7."Bhante nāgasena, 'candassa pañca aṅgāni gahetabbānī'ti yaṃ vadesi, katamāni tāni pañca aṅgāni gahetabbānī"ti? “Revered Nāgasena, when you say five qualities of the moon must be adopted, which are these five qualities that must be adopted? ‘Venerable Nāgasena, those five qualities of the moon which you say he ought to have, which are they?’ 27. Почтенный Нагасена, ты сказал, что следует взять пять качеств месяца. Каковы эти пять качеств?
"Yathā, mahārāja, cando sukkapakkhe udayanto uttaruttariṃ vaḍḍhati, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena ācārasīlaguṇavattappaṭipattiyā āgamādhigame paṭisallāne satipaṭṭhāne indriyesu guttadvāratāya bhojane mattaññutāya jāgariyānuyoge uttaruttariṃ vaḍḍhitabbaṃ. “As, sire, the moon, rising in the bright fortnight, waxes more and more, even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must grow more and more in good conduct, morality, the special qualities, the practice of the duties, in the tradition and spiritual realization, in solitary meditation, in the foundations of mindfulness, in guarding the doors of the sense faculties, in moderation in eating, and in intentness on watchfulness. ‘Just, O king, as the moon, rising in the bright fortnight, waxes more and more; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, grow more and more in good conduct and righteousness and virtue and the constant performance of duty, and in knowledge of the scriptures and study, and in the habit of retirement, and in self-possession, and in keeping the doors of his senses guarded, and in moderation in food, and in the practice of vigils. – Во-первых, государь, восходя в светлые пятнадцать дней после новолуния, месяц все растет и растет. Вот точно так же, государь, и у занимающегося йогой йога достоинства правильного, должного нравственного поведения, учености и освоения, уединенного созерцания, постановок памятования, стережения шести проходов, знания меры в еде, преданности бодрствованию должны все возрастать и возрастать.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, candassa paṭhamaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. This, sire, is the first quality of the moon that must be adopted. This, O king, is the first quality of the moon he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, cando uḷārādhipati, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena uḷārena chandādhipatinā bhavitabbaṃ. “And again, sire, the moon is a mighty ruler; even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must be a mighty ruler over desire. ‘And again, O king, as the moon is a mighty lord ; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, be a mighty lord over his own will. Далее, государь, месяц – это могучий владыка. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует быть могучим владыкой своих хотений.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, candassa dutiyaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. This, sire, is the second quality of the moon that must be adopted. This, O king, is the second quality of the moon he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, cando nisāya carati, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena pavivittena bhavitabbaṃ. “And again, sire, the moon moves at night; even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must be aloof. ‘And again, O king, as the moon wanders at night; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, be given to solitude. Далее, государь, месяц странствует по небу ночью. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует пребывать в уединении.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, candassa tatiyaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. This, sire, is the third quality of the moon that must be adopted. This, O king, is the third quality of the moon he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, cando vimānaketu, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena sīlaketunā bhavitabbaṃ. “And again, sire, the moon has his mansion as his banner; even so, sire, must the one who is devoted to mental training have morality as his banner. ‘And again, O king, as the moon hoists a standard over his mansion; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, hoist the standard of righteousness. Далее, государь, над небесным дворцом месяца возвышается стяг. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует иметь свой стяг – нравственность.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, candassa catutthaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. This, sire, is the fourth quality of the moon that must be adopted. This, O king, is the fourth quality of the moon he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, cando āyācitapatthito udeti, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena āyācitapatthitena kulāni upasaṅkamitabbāni. “And again, sire, the moon rises as promised and desired; even so, sire, must the one who is devoted to mental training visit families as promised and desired. ‘And again, O king, as the moon rises when begged and prayed to do so; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, frequent for alms those families who have asked and invited him to do so. Далее, государь, месяц восходит, когда его просят и ждут. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует приходить в дома, куда его просят прийти и где ждут.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, candassa pañcamaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. This, sire, is the fifth quality of the moon that must be adopted.” This, O king, is the fifth quality of the moon he ought to have.
Bhāsitampetaṃ, mahārāja, bhagavatā devātidevena saṃyuttanikāyavare 'candūpamā, bhikkhave, kulāni upasaṅkamatha, apakasseva kāyaṃ apakassa cittaṃ niccanavakā kulesu appagabbhā"'ti [appagabbāti (ka.) saṃ. ni. 2.146]. For it was said, O king, by the Blessed One, the god over all gods, in the most excellent Saṁyutta Nikāya “Like the moon, O brethren, let your visits be paid to the laity. Drawing back alike in outward demeanour and in inward spirit, be ye always, as strangers on their first visit, retiring in the presence of the laity. [As the man who looks down a deep well, or a mountain precipice, or a river in flood, would be abashed alike in body and in mind; so be ye, O brethren, as the moon in your visits to the laity. Holding alike in your outward demeanour and your inward spirit, be ye alway, as strangers on their first visit, retiring in the presence of the laity].” ’ Ведь есть, государь, в превосходном Своде связок изречение Блаженного, бога богов: «Будьте, монахи, подобны месяцу, когда приходите в дома мирян, сдержите тело, сдержите мысль, всегда будьте в домах, как новички, не заноситесь»868.
