11.Rājā āha "bhante nāgasena, tumhe evaṃ bhaṇatha 'sakkā assāsapassāse nirodhetu"'nti?

The king said: ‘Your people, Nāgasena, say that it is possible to suppress the inhaling and exhaling (of one’s breath).’
|
Царь молвил: «Почтенный Нагасена, вы утверждаете, будто можно пресечь вдохи и выдохи»298.

"Āma, mahārāja, sakkā assāsapassāse nirodhetu"nti.
|
‘Yes, that can be done.’
|
– Да, государь, можно пресечь вдохи и выдохи.
|

"Kathaṃ, bhante nāgasena, sakkā assāsapassāse nirodhetu"nti.
|
‘But how?’
|
– Каким образом, почтенный Нагасена, можно пресечь вдохи и выдохи?

"Taṃ kiṃ maññasi, mahārāja, sutapubbo te koci kākacchamāno"ti.
|
‘Tell me, O king. Have you ever heard of a man snoring?’
|
– Ты когда-нибудь слышал, государь, как кто-то храпит?

"Āma, bhante, sutapubbo"ti.
|
‘Yes.’

– Да, почтенный, слышал.

"Kiṃ nu kho, mahārāja, so saddo kāye namite virameyyā"ti.

‘Well, would not that sound stop if he bent his body?’
|
– Если человек согнется, то прекратится его храп, государь?
|
|

"Āma, bhante, virameyyā"ti.
|
‘Yes.’
|
– Да, почтенный, прекратится.
|

"So hi nāma, mahārāja, saddo abhāvitakāyassa abhāvitasīlassa abhāvitacittassa abhāvitapaññassa kāye namite viramissati, kiṃ pana bhāvitakāyassa bhāvitasīlassa bhāvitacittassa bhāvitapaññassa catutthajjhānaṃ samāpannassa assāsapassāsā na nirujjhissantī"ti.

‘Then surely if that sound would stop at the mere bending of the body of one who is untrained alike in body, in conduct, in mind, and in wisdom—why should it not be possible for the breathing of one trained in all these respects, and who has besides reached up to the fourth stage of the ecstatic contemplation, to be suppressed?’

– Если этот звук у того, кто не освоил тело, не освоил нравственность, не освоил мысль, не освоил мудрость, может прекратиться, то неужели не может пресечь вдохи и выдохи тот, кто освоил тело, освоил нравственность, освоил мысль, освоил мудрость, вошел в четвертую стадию созерцания?
