Te kāyassa bhedā paraṃ maraṇā sugatiṃ saggaṃ lokaṃ upapannā.
at the break-up of the body, after death, have re-appeared in a good destination, a heavenly world.
"Taṃ kho panāhaṃ, bhikkhave, nāññassa samaṇassa vā brāhmaṇassa vā sutvā vadāmi.
It’s not from having heard this from another contemplative or brahman that I tell you that I have seen beings who–

Api ca, bhikkhave, yadeva sāmaṃ ñātaṃ sāmaṃ diṭṭhaṃ sāmaṃ viditaṃ tadevāhaṃ vadāmi.

It’s from having known it myself, seen it myself, realized it myself that I tell you that I have seen beings who–

at the break-up of the body, after death, have re-appeared in a good destination, a heavenly world.”

Etamatthaṃ bhagavā avoca.
[This is the meaning of what the Blessed One said.]
Tatthetaṃ iti vuccati –
[So with regard to this it was said:]
"Sammā manaṃ paṇidhāya, sammā vācañca bhāsiya [sammā vācaṃ abhāsiya (sabbattha)] ;
With mind rightly directed, speaking right speech,
Sammā kammāni katvāna, kāyena idha puggalo.
doing right deeds with the body: a person here of much learning,

"Bahussuto puññakaro, appasmiṃ idha jīvite;
a doer of merit here in this next-to-nothing life,
Kāyassa bhedā sappañño, saggaṃ so upapajjatī"ti.
at the break-up of the body, discerning, reappears in heaven.
Ayampi attho vutto bhagavatā, iti me sutanti.
[This, too, was the meaning of what was said by the Blessed One, so I have heard.]
Dutiyaṃ.
