25.Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā sāvatthiyaṃ viharati jetavane anāthapiṇḍikassa ārāme.
|
I have heard that on one occasion the Blessed One was staying near Sāvatthī at Jeta’s Grove, Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery.

Tena kho pana samayena āyasmā mahāmoggallāno bhagavato avidūre nisinno hoti pallaṅkaṃ ābhujitvā ujuṃ kāyaṃ paṇidhāya kāyagatāya satiyā ajjhattaṃ sūpaṭṭhitāya.
|
And on that occasion Ven. Mahā Moggallāna was sitting not far from the Blessed One, his legs crossed, his body held erect, having mindfulness immersed in the body well-established within.

|
Addasā kho bhagavā āyasmantaṃ mahāmoggallānaṃ avidūre nisinnaṃ pallaṅkaṃ ābhujitvā ujuṃ kāyaṃ paṇidhāya kāyagatāya satiyā ajjhattaṃ sūpaṭṭhitāya.
|
The Blessed One saw Ven. Mahā Moggallāna sitting not far away, his legs crossed, his body held erect, having mindfulness immersed in the body well-established within.
|
|
Atha kho bhagavā etamatthaṃ viditvā tāyaṃ velāyaṃ imaṃ udānaṃ udānesi –
|
Then, on realizing the significance of that, the Blessed One on that occasion exclaimed:
|
|
"Sati kāyagatā upaṭṭhitā,
|
With mindfulness immersed in the body
|
|
Chasu phassāyatanesu saṃvuto;
|
well-established, restrained with regard to the six contact-media–
|
|
Satataṃ bhikkhu samāhito,
|
continually centered, a monk
|
|
Jaññā nibbānamattano"ti. pañcamaṃ;
|
can know unbinding for himself.
