Evamimassa pacchābhattakiccassa lokavolokanasaṅkhāte catutthabhāgāvasāne buddhadhammasaṅghesu dānasīlauposathakammādīsu ca akatādhikāre katādhikāre ca anupanissayasampanne upanissayasampanne ca satte passituṃ buddhacakkhunā lokaṃ volokento kasibhāradvājaṃ brāhmaṇaṃ arahattassa upanissayasampannaṃ disvā "tattha mayi gate kathā pavattissati, tato kathāvasāne dhammadesanaṃ sutvā esa brāhmaṇo pabbajitvā arahattaṃ pāpuṇissatī"ti ca ñatvā, tattha gantvā, kathaṃ samuṭṭhāpetvā imaṃ suttamabhāsi.

1.6. Looking at the world, in this way, by means of his Buddha-eye in order to see such living beings as those who had not done as well as those who had done devoted deeds of service toward Buddha, dhamma and saṅgha and those who would be either endowed or not endowed with upanissaya (sufficing qualification for attainment of Arahantship), at the end of the fourth portion ( of the last watch of the night) reckoned as looking at the world (lokavolokana), of this pacchābhattakicca (after-meal duty), the Blessed One sighted the brahmin Kasibhāradvāja to have been endowed with upanissaya (sufficing qualification) for the attainment of Arahantship and came to know thus:– “When I go there, conversation will happen (pavattissati); thereafter, at the end of kathā (the conversation), this brahmin will become a monk after he had listened to my teaching of the truth (dhamma) and will attain Arahantship;” the Blessed One went there, facilitated (samuṭṭhāpetvā) the kathā (conversation) and spoke this sutta (discourse).

Вот исполняя такое послеполуденное дело, называемое осматриванием мира в четвёртый период, видя существ, совершивших приверженные поступки Будде, Дхамме, Сангхе, практикующих дарение, нравственность, соблюдающих день особых предписаний прочее, сделавших устремление и не сделавших устремление, обладающих необходимыми условиями и не обладающих необходимыми условиями, осматривая мир оком Будды, увидев у брахмана Касибхарадваджи необходимое условие для достижения архатства, поняв "Когда я пойду туда произойдёт беседа и по окончании беседы услышав проповедь по Дхамме этот брахман оставив мир достигнет архатства", пойдя туда, проводя беседу изрёк это наставление.
