Evaṃ bhagavato vesāliṃ anuppattadivaseyeva vesālinagaradvāre tesaṃ upaddavānaṃ paṭighātatthāya vuttamidaṃ ratanasuttaṃ uggahetvā āyasmā ānando parittatthāya bhāsamāno bhagavato pattena udakamādāya sabbanagaraṃ abbhukkiranto anuvicari.

So while this Jewel Discourse, the purpose of which was to counter those plagues, was being delivered there at the city gate on the very day of the Blessed One's arrival at Vesäli, the venerable Änanda learnt it. And then in reciting it afterwards as a Safeguard Ceremony he took water with him in the Blessed One's bowl and proceeded around the whole city, aspersing it with the water.

Когда это наставление о драгоценности, целью которого было преодоление всех бед, было рассказано у городских ворот в день прибытия Благословенного в Весали, почтенный Ананда выучил его. И затем читая её впоследствии в качестве защитной церемонии он взял с собой наполненный водой сосуд для подаяния Благословенного и обошёл с ним весь город, окропляя его водой.

Yaṃ kiñcīti vuttamatte eva therena ye pubbe apalātā saṅkārakūṭabhittippadesādinissitā amanussā, te catūhi dvārehi palāyiṃsu, dvārāni anokāsāni ahesuṃ.

As soon as the words ' No matter what' (stanza 3) were uttered by the Elder, the non-human beings who had not already fled and were lurking in middens and behind walls and in such places, fled towards the four gates.

Как только почтенный Ананда зачитал слова "Yaṃ kiñcī" (3 строфа), нечеловеческие существа, ещё не покинувшие город и прятавшиеся в кучах мусора и за стенами и другими подобными местами, рванули к четырём воротам.

Tato ekacce dvāresu okāsaṃ alabhamānā pākāraṃ bhinditvā palātā.

But the gates could not accommodate them all, and so some who were unable to escape through the gates broke through the walls in their flight.

The sickness in men's limbs was cured.

They came out and did honour to the Elder with all kinds of flowers, incense, and so on.

Mahājano nagaramajjhe santhāgāraṃ sabbagandhehi limpitvā vitānaṃ katvā sabbālaṅkārehi alaṅkaritvā tattha buddhāsanaṃ paññapetvā bhagavantaṃ ānesi.

A multitude sprinkled the city hall in the centre of the city with all kinds of scents, made a canopy decorated with every kind of ornament, and when they had prepared an Enlightened One's throne, they conducted the Blessed One to it.

Множество людей осыпало цветами зал для городских собраний в центре города, сделали шатёр, украшенный всеми видами украшений, приготовили трон для Благословенного и проводили Благословенного на него.
