Tato licchavirājāno bimbisārena katapūjāya diguṇaṃ karontā galappamāṇe udake bhagavantaṃ paccuggacchiṃsu.

Then, honouring the Blessed One twice as much as Bimbisära had done, the Licchavi regents came to meet him till the water was up to their necks.

Teneva khaṇena tena muhuttena vijjuppabhāvinaddhandhakāravisaṭakūṭo gaḷagaḷāyanto catūsu disāsu mahāmegho vuṭṭhāsi.

At that moment, at that very instant, a great cloud, the darkness of whose broad summit was laced with lightning flashes, began to rain down in torrents in the four directions.

Atha bhagavatā paṭhamapāde gaṅgātīre nikkhittamatte pokkharavassaṃ vassi.

Then scarcely had the Blessed One set his foot upon the Ganges' bank than a ' lotus ' downpour began;

И как только Благословенный коснулся ногой берега Ганга, начался "лотосовый" дождь.

Ye temetukāmā, te eva tementi, atemetukāmā na tementi.
|
but only those got wet who wanted to get wet, and no one got wet who did not want to get wet.
|
Но намокли только те, кто хотели намокнуть. Кто не хотел намокать - не намокли.

Sabbattha jāṇumattaṃ ūrumattaṃ kaṭimattaṃ galappamāṇaṃ udakaṃ vahati, sabbakuṇapāni udakena gaṅgaṃ pavesitāni, parisuddho bhūmibhāgo ahosi.

Everywhere the water flowed knee-deep, thigh-deep, waist-deep, neck-deep, and all the corpses were swept into the Ganges by the water till the land was left quite clean.

Везде вода текла по колено, по бедро, по пояс, по шею и все трупы начало смывать в Ганг, до того момента пока земля стала вполне чистой.
