Utenassa pana aparāpi vāsuladattā nāma devī ahosi caṇḍapajjotassa dhītā. Ujjeniyañhi caṇḍapajjoto nāma rājā ahosi. "So hatthikantaṃ nāma sippaṃ jānāti, mantaṃ parivattetvā hatthikantavīṇaṃ vādento nāge palāpetipi gaṇhātipi. Hatthivāhanasampanno tena sadiso nāma natthī"ti. "Na sakkā mayā so gahetu"nti. "Sace te, deva, ekantena ayaṃ nicchayo, tena hi dāruhatthiṃ kāretvā tassāsannaṭṭhānaṃ pesehi. So hatthivāhanaṃ vā assavāhanaṃ vā sutvā dūrampi gacchati. So hatthivāhanaṃ vā assavāhanaṃ vā sutvā dūrampi gacchati. Let him hear of a good mount, be it elephant or horse, and he will go a long way for it.
Tattha naṃ āgataṃ gahetuṃ sakkā bhavissatī"ti. When he is close by, you can capture him.”
