Iti sā diṭṭhīti yā tathāvimuttassa arahato diṭṭhi, sā evaṃ diṭṭhi. "Itissa diṭṭhī"tipi pāṭho. Yo tathāvimutto arahā, evamassa diṭṭhīti attho. Tadakallanti taṃ na yuttaṃ. Kasmā? Evañhi sati – "arahā na kiñci jānātī"ti vuttaṃ bhaveyya, evaṃ ñatvā vimuttañca arahantaṃ "na kiñci jānātī"ti vattuṃ na yuttaṃ. Teneva catunnampi nayānaṃ avasāne – "taṃ kissa hetū"tiādimāha.

Iti sā diṭṭhīti yā tathāvimuttassa arahato diṭṭhi, sā evaṃ diṭṭhi.
"Itissa diṭṭhī"tipi pāṭho.
Yo tathāvimutto arahā, evamassa diṭṭhīti attho.
Tadakallanti taṃ na yuttaṃ. "Ánanda, if anyone should say of a bhikkhu whose mind has been thus liberated, ..." that would not be proper.
Kasmā? for what reason?
Evañhi sati – "arahā na kiñci jānātī"ti vuttaṃ bhaveyya, evaṃ ñatvā vimuttañca arahantaṃ "na kiñci jānātī"ti vattuṃ na yuttaṃ. (Since the arahat does not hold any of the four views concerning the Tathágata after death) someone might say of him: “The arahat does not know anything.” But it would not be correct to say of an arahat, who is liberated through knowledge, that he does not know anything.
Teneva catunnampi nayānaṃ avasāne – "taṃ kissa hetū"tiādimāha. Thus at the end of the four alternatives it is said: “For what reason?” etc.
