Iti sā diṭṭhīti yā tathāvimuttassa arahato diṭṭhi, sā evaṃ diṭṭhi.

Evañhi sati – "arahā na kiñci jānātī"ti vuttaṃ bhaveyya, evaṃ ñatvā vimuttañca arahantaṃ "na kiñci jānātī"ti vattuṃ na yuttaṃ.
|
(Since the arahat does not hold any of the four views concerning the Tathágata after death) someone might say of him: “The arahat does not know anything.” But it would not be correct to say of an arahat, who is liberated through knowledge, that he does not know anything.

Teneva catunnampi nayānaṃ avasāne – "taṃ kissa hetū"tiādimāha.
|
Thus at the end of the four alternatives it is said: “For what reason?” etc.
