359. Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato mahākassapassa paṃsukūlakato garuko hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, suttalūkhaṃ kātunti. Vikaṇṇo hoti. Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. 359.Tena kho pana samayena āyasmato mahākassapassa paṃsukūlakato garuko hoti. Now at that time Ven Mahā Kassapa’s (robe) made of cast-off cloth became heavy.
Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ. They reported the matter to the Blessed One.
Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, suttalūkhaṃ kātunti. “Monks, I allow that a rough stitch be made.”
Vikaṇṇo hoti. It got frayed (uneven/worn) edges.
