Idha pana, bhikkhave, āvāsikānaṃ bhikkhūnaṃ pāṭipado hoti, āgantukānaṃ pannaraso. Sace āvāsikā bahutarā honti, āvāsikehi āgantukānaṃ nākāmā dātabbā sāmaggī; āgantukehi nissīmaṃ gantvā pavāretabbaṃ. Sace āvāsikā bahutarā honti, āvāsikehi āgantukānaṃ nākāmā dātabbā sāmaggī; āgantukehi nissīmaṃ gantvā pavāretabbaṃ. “If the resident monks are more numerous, then the resident monks—if they are not unwilling—should give their unity1 to the incoming monks.
