435.Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhuniyo pallaṅkena nisīdanti paṇhīsamphassaṃ sādiyantī [sādiyantā (ka.)].

Now at that time nuns were sitting down cross-legged, consenting to the touch of heels.
|
|
|
Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ.
|
They told this matter to the Lord.
|
|
|
"Na, bhikkhave, bhikkhuniyā pallaṅkena nisīditabbaṃ.
|
He said: “Monks, nuns should not sit down cross-legged.
|
|
|
Yā nisīdeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassā"ti.
|
Whoever should (so) sit down, there is an offence of wrong-doing. ”
|
|
