"Puna caparaṃ, upavāṇa, bhikkhu manasā dhammaṃ viññāya dhammappaṭisaṃvedī ca hoti dhammarāgappaṭisaṃvedī ca.

having cognized a mental phenomenon with the mind, a bhikkhu experiences the mental phenomenon as well as lust for the mental phenomenon.

Santañca ajjhattaṃ dhammesu rāgaṃ 'atthi me ajjhattaṃ dhammesu rāgo'ti pajānāti.
|
He understands that lust for mental phenomena exists internally thus: 'There is in me lust for mental phenomena internally.'

Yaṃ taṃ, upavāṇa, bhikkhu manasā dhammaṃ viññāya dhammappaṭisaṃvedī ca hoti dhammarāgappaṭisaṃvedī ca.

Since, Upavāṇa, having cognized that mental object with the mind, a monk experiences the mental object and experiences lust for the mental object,

Santañca ajjhattaṃ dhammesu rāgaṃ 'atthi me ajjhattaṃ dhammesu rāgo'ti pajānāti.

and he understands the lust for mental objects existing internally thus, ‘There exists for me internally lust for mental objects,’

Evampi kho, upavāṇa, sandiṭṭhiko dhammo hoti - pe - paccattaṃ veditabbo viññūhī"ti - pe -.
|
in such a way, too, the Dhamma is directly visible, immediate, inviting one to come and see, applicable, to be personally experienced by the wise.
