"Puna caparaṃ, bhikkhave, sāriputto vitakkavicārānaṃ vūpasamā ajjhattaṃ sampasādanaṃ cetaso ekodibhāvaṃ avitakkaṃ avicāraṃ samādhijaṃ pītisukhaṃ dutiyaṃ jhānaṃ upasampajja viharati.

5. "Again, bhikkhus, with the stilling of applied and sustained thought, Sariputta entered and abided in the second jhana, which has self-confidence and singleness of mind without applied and sustained thought, with rapture and pleasure born of concentration.

Ye ca dutiye jhāne dhammā – ajjhattaṃ sampasādo ca pīti ca sukhañca cittekaggatā ca, phasso vedanā saññā cetanā cittaṃ chando adhimokkho vīriyaṃ sati upekkhā manasikāro – tyāssa dhammā anupadavavatthitā honti.

6. "And the states in the second jhana - the self-confidence, the rapture, the pleasure, and the unification of mind; the con-tact, feeling, perception, volition, and mind; the zeal, decision, energy, mindfulness, equanimity, and attention - these states were defined by him one by one as they occurred;

И явления в поглощённости ума второго уровня - внутренняя уверенность, восторг, счастье, однонаправленность ума; соприкосновение, ощущение, распознавание, побуждение, ум, энтузиазм, решение, усердие, памятование, безмятежное наблюдение и внимание - были определены им одно за одним как они происходили.

Tyāssa dhammā viditā uppajjanti, viditā upaṭṭhahanti, viditā abbhatthaṃ gacchanti.

known to him those states arose, known they were present, known they disap-peared.

So evaṃ pajānāti – 'evaṃ kirame dhammā ahutvā sambhonti, hutvā paṭiventī'ti.

So tesu dhammesu anupāyo anapāyo anissito appaṭibaddho vippamutto visaṃyutto vimariyādīkatena cetasā viharati.

So 'atthi uttari nissaraṇa'nti pajānāti.

Tabbahulīkārā atthitvevassa hoti.

and with the cultivation of that [attainment], he confirmed that there is.
