1008. (15) Requisites? For giving, gladness is the condition and non-greed the cause.

Saṃyamato yoniso manasikāro hetu, pariccāgo paccayo.

Kusalo ca jahāti pāpakanti yathābhūtadassanaṃ paccayo, ñāṇappaṭilābho hetu.

"One who is skilled abandons evil " : seeing how things are is the condition and obtainment of knowledge the cause.

Rāgadosamohakkhayā sa nibbutoti parato ca ghoso ajjhattañca yoniso manasikāro maggo ca hetu ca paccayo ca.

" With exhaustion of lust, hate, delusion, he attains complete extinction " : another's utterance, and reasoned attention in oneself, and the path, are the cause and the condition.
