154.Tena kho pana samayena sunidhavassakārā magadhamahāmattā bhagavantaṃ piṭṭhito piṭṭhito anubandhā honti – "yenajja samaṇo gotamo dvārena nikkhamissati, taṃ gotamadvāraṃ nāma bhavissati.
|
32. Then Sunidha and Vassakara followed behind the Blessed One, step by step, saying: "Through whichever gate the recluse Gotama will depart today, that we will name the Gotama-gate;
|
And on that occasion, Sunidha & Vassakāra followed right after the Blessed One, (thinking,) “By whichever gate Gotama the contemplative departs today, that will be called the Gotama Gate.
|
1.32.Sunidha and Vassakara followed closely behind the Lord, saying: 'Whichever gate the ascetic Gotama goes out by today, that shall be called the Gotama gate;
|
Тогда Сунидха и Вассакара пошли вслед за Благословенным [с намерением]: "Те врата, через которые выйдет отшельник Готама, назовутся вратами Готамы,

Yena titthena gaṅgaṃ nadiṃ tarissati, taṃ gotamatitthaṃ nāma bhavissatī"ti.

and the ford by which he will cross the river Ganges shall be named the Gotama-ford."
|
And by whichever ford he crosses over the Ganges River, that will be called the Gotama Ford. ”
|
and whichever ford he uses to cross the Ganges, that shall be called the Gotama ford.'
|
и тот брод, через который он пересечёт Ганг, назовётся бродом Готамы".
|
та переправа, по которой он пересечет реку Ганг, будет переправой Готамы».

Atha kho bhagavā yena dvārena nikkhami, taṃ gotamadvāraṃ nāma ahosi.
|
And so it came to pass, where the gate was concerned.
|
So the gate by which the Blessed One departed was called the Gotama Gate.
|
And so the gate by which the Lord went out was called the Gotama Gate.
|
И те врата, через которые вышел Благословенный, стали именоваться вратами Готамы.
|
И вот те врата, которыми вошел Благостный, стали вратами Готамы.
|

Atha kho bhagavā yena gaṅgā nadī tenupasaṅkami.
|
33. But when the Blessed One came to the river Ganges,
|
Then he went to the Ganges River.
|
1.33.And then the Lord came to the River Ganges.
|
И Благословенный приблизился к Гангу.
|
1.33. И вот Благостный приблизился к реке Ганг.
|

|
Tena kho pana samayena gaṅgā nadī pūrā hoti samatittikā kākapeyyā.
|
it was full to the brim, so that crows could drink from it.
|
Now on that occasion the Ganges River was full up to the banks, so that a crow could drink from it.
|
And just then, the river was so full that a crow could drink out of it.
|
В то время река Ганг переполнилась, так что ворона могла пить из неё.
|
И в это самое время река Ганг стала полно[водной], наполненной до краев, так что даже ворона смогла бы пить из нее.
|

|
Appekacce manussā nāvaṃ pariyesanti, appekacce uḷumpaṃ pariyesanti, appekacce kullaṃ bandhanti apārā [pārā (sī. syā. ka.), orā (vi. mahāvagga)], pāraṃ gantukāmā.
|
And some people went in search of a boat or float, while others tied up a raft, because they desired to get across.
|
Some people were searching for boats; some were searching for floats; some were binding rafts in hopes of going from this shore to the other.
|
And some people were looking for a boat, and some were looking for a raft, and some were binding together a raft of reeds to get to the other side.
|
Желая перейти на ту сторону, некоторые стали искать лодку, некоторые искали плот а некоторые связывали плотик [сами].
|
Одни люди стали искать лодку, другие стали искать плот, третьи стали сплетать стебли, желая перебраться на другой берег.
|
|
|
Atha kho bhagavā – seyyathāpi nāma balavā puriso samiñjitaṃ vā bāhaṃ pasāreyya, pasāritaṃ vā bāhaṃ samiñjeyya, evameva – gaṅgāya nadiyā orimatīre antarahito pārimatīre paccuṭṭhāsi saddhiṃ bhikkhusaṅghena.
|
But the Blessed One, as quickly as a strong man might stretch out his bent arm or draw in his outstretched arm, vanished from this side of the river Ganges, and came to stand on the yonder side.
|
So the Blessed One—just as a strong man might extend his flexed arm or flex his extended arm—disappeared from the near bank of the Ganges River and reappeared on the far bank together with the Saṅgha of monks.
|
But the Lord, as swiftly as a strong man might stretch out his flexed arm or flex it again, vanished from this side of the Ganges and reappeared with his order of monks on the other shore.
|
И Благословенный, подобно тому, как сильный человек распрямляет согнутую руку или сгибает распрямлённую руку, исчез с ближнего берега Ганга и появился с собранием монахов на дальнем берегу.
|
И вот, подобно тому как сильный человек вытягивает согнутую руку или сгибает вытянутую руку, точно так же Благостный вместе с толпой монахов исчез с этого берега реки Ганг и появился на том берегу.

1.34.And the Lord saw those people who were looking for a boat, looking for a raft, and binding together a raft of reeds to get to the other side.

Благословенный увидел тех людей, некоторые из которых, желая перейти на ту сторону, искали лодку, некоторые искали плот, а некоторые связывали плотик [сами].
|
1.34. И Благостный увидел, как одни люди ищут лодку, другие ищут плот, третьи сплетают стебли, желая перебраться на другой берег.

Atha kho bhagavā etamatthaṃ viditvā tāyaṃ velāyaṃ imaṃ udānaṃ udānesi –
|
And then the Blessed One, seeing them thus, gave forth the solemn utterance:

Then, on realizing the significance of that, the Blessed One on that occasion exclaimed:

And seeing their intentions, he uttered this verse on the spot:
