224.Parinibbute bhagavati ye te tattha bhikkhū avītarāgā appekacce bāhā paggayha kandanti, chinnapātaṃ papatanti, āvaṭṭanti vivaṭṭanti, "atikhippaṃ bhagavā parinibbuto, atikhippaṃ sugato parinibbuto, atikhippaṃ cakkhuṃ loke antarahito"ti.

17. Then, when the Blessed One had passed away, some bhikkhus, not yet freed from passion, lifted up their arms and wept; and some, flinging themselves on the ground, rolled from side to side and wept, lamenting: "Too soon has the Blessed One come to his Parinibbana! Too soon has the Happy One come to his Parinibbana! Too soon has the Eye of the World vanished from sight!"

When the Blessed One totally unbound, simultaneously with the total unbinding, some of the monks present who were not without passion wept, uplifting their arms. As if their feet were cut out from under them, they fell down and rolled back & forth, crying, “All too soon has the Blessed One totally unbound! All too soon has the One Well-Gone totally unbound! All too soon has the One with Eyes disappeared from the world!”

And those monks who had not yet overcome their passions wept and tore their hair, raising their arms, throwing themselves down and twisting and turning, crying: 'All too soon [158] the Blessed Lord has passed away, all too soon the Well- Farer has passed away, all too soon the Eye of the World has disappeared!'

Когда Благословенный достиг окончательной ниббаны, некоторые из находившихся там монахов, не избавившихся от страсти, заламывая руки рыдали, падали как подкошенные, крутились из стороны в сторону: "Слишком скоро Благословенный достиг окончательной ниббаны, слишком скоро Достигший блага достиг окончательной ниббаны, слишком скоро Провидец исчез в мире".

И когда Благостный достиг ниббаны, то некоторые из тех монахов, которые не освободились от страстей, заплакали, воздев руки, упали ниц пораженные, заметались взад и вперед, [возглашая]: «Слишком рано достиг ниббаны Благостный, слишком рано достиг ниббаны Счастливый, слишком рано угасло око мира!»

Ye pana te bhikkhū vītarāgā, te satā sampajānā adhivāsenti – "aniccā saṅkhārā, taṃ kutettha labbhā"ti.
|
But the bhikkhus who were freed from passion, mindful and clearly comprehending, reflected in this way: "Impermanent are all compounded things. How could this be otherwise?"
|
But those monks who were free from passion acquiesced, mindful & alert: “Inconstant are fabrications. What else is there to expect?”

But those monks who were free from craving endured mindfully and clearly aware, saying: 'All compounded things are impermanent — what is the use of this?'
|
Но те монахи, кто избавился от страсти, переносили осознанно и с памятованием: "Конструированное непостоянно, разве можно добиться [иного]?".

Те же монахи, которые освободились от страстей, пребывали наделенными способностью самосознания и вдумчивостью, [полагая]: «Непостоянно составленное. Откуда же может тут получиться [иначе]?»
