"Yāvakīvañca, bhikkhave, bhikkhū uppannāya taṇhāya ponobbhavikāya na vasaṃ gacchissanti, vuddhiyeva, bhikkhave, bhikkhūnaṃ pāṭikaṅkhā, no parihāni.

so long as they do not come under the power of the craving that leads to fresh becoming;

“As long as the monks do not come under the sway of any arisen craving that leads to further-becoming, their growth can be expected, not their decline.

as long as they do not fall prey to desires which arise in them and lead to rebirth...;

Пока монахи не попадают во власть возникшей жажды, приводящей к новому состоянию бытия, до тех пор можно ожидать процветания монахов, а не упадка.

До тех пор, монахи, пока монахи не будут попадать во власть возникающей [у них] жажды, ведущей к следующему рождению, следует ожидать, монахи, возвышения, а не упадка монахов.
