Evaṃ vutte pukkuso mallaputto bhagavantaṃ etadavoca – "esāhaṃ, bhante, yo me āḷāre kālāme pasādo taṃ mahāvāte vā ophuṇāmi sīghasotāya [siṅghasotāya (ka.)] vā nadiyā pavāhemi.
43. When this had been said, Pukkusa of the Malla clan said to the Blessed One: "The faith, Lord, that I had in Alara Kalama I now scatter to the mighty wind, I let it be carried away as by a flowing stream!
When this was said, Pukkusa Mallaputta said to the Blessed One, “The conviction I had in Āḷāra Kālāma I winnow before a high wind or wash away in the swift current of a river.
4.34.At this, Pukkusa the Malla said: 'Lord, I reject the lofty powers of Alara Kalama as if they were blown away by a mighty wind or carried off by a swift stream or river!

Excellent, O Lord, most excellent, O Lord!
Magnificent, lord! Magnificent!
Excellent, Lord, excellent!

Seyyathāpi, bhante, nikkujjitaṃ vā ukkujjeyya, paṭicchannaṃ vā vivareyya, mūḷhassa vā maggaṃ ācikkheyya, andhakāre vā telapajjotaṃ dhāreyya 'cakkhumanto rūpāni dakkhantī'ti; evamevaṃ bhagavatā anekapariyāyena dhammo pakāsito.

It is as if, Lord, one were to set upright what had been overthrown, or to reveal what had been hidden, or to show the path to one who had gone astray, or to light a lamp in the darkness so that those having eyes might see — even so has the Blessed One set forth the Dhamma in many ways.
Just as if he were to place upright what was overturned, to reveal what was hidden, to show the way to one who was lost, or to carry a lamp into the dark so that those with eyes could see forms, in the same way has the Blessed One—through many lines of reasoning—made the Dhamma clear.
It is as if someone were to set up what had been knocked down, or to point out the way to one who had got lost, or to bring an oil lamp into a dark place, so that those with eyes could see what was there. Just so the Blessed Lord has expounded the Dhamma in various ways.

Esāhaṃ, bhante, bhagavantaṃ saraṇaṃ gacchāmi dhammañca bhikkhusaṅghañca.
And so, O Lord, I take my refuge in the Blessed One, the Dhamma, and the Community of Bhikkhus.
I go to the Blessed One for refuge, to the Dhamma, and to the Saṅgha of monks.
And I, Lord, go for refuge to the Blessed Lord, the Dhamma and the Sangha.

Upāsakaṃ maṃ bhagavā dhāretu ajjatagge pāṇupetaṃ saraṇaṃ gata"nti.
May the Blessed One accept me as his disciple, one who has taken refuge until the end of life."
May the Blessed One remember me as a lay follower who has gone to him for refuge, from this day forward, for life. ”
May the Blessed Lord accept me from this day forth as a lay-follower as long as life shall last!'
