(18)–(21) As regards the supramundane, firstly, in the case of the path consciousness having the first jhāna they should be understood to be as stated in the case of the first fine-material-sphere consciousness (9). The paths classed as belonging to the second jhāna, etc., should be understood to be as stated in the cases [respectively] of the second fine-material-sphere jhāna, and so on (10)– (13).

Karuṇāmuditānaṃ pana abhāvo, niyataviratitā, lokuttaratā cāti ayamettha viseso.

But the difference here is absence of compassion (xxxii) and gladness (xxxiii),67 constancy of the abstinences (xxxiv-xxxvi), and supramundaneness.
