1."Bhante nāgasena, 'panthamakkaṭakassa ekaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabba'nti yaṃ vadesi, katamaṃ taṃ ekaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabba"nti?

‘Venerable Nāgasena, that one quality of the road spider you say he ought to have, which is it?’

51. Почтенный Нагасена, ты сказал, что следует взять одно качество бродячего паука. Каково это качество?

"Yathā, mahārāja, panthamakkaṭako panthe makkaṭajālavitānaṃ katvā yadi tattha jālake laggati kimi vā makkhikā vā paṭaṅgo vā, taṃ gahetvā bhakkhayati, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena chasu dvāresu satipaṭṭhānajālavitānaṃ katvā yadi tattha kilesamakkhikā bajjhanti, tattheva ghātetabbā.

‘Just, O king, as the road spider weaves the curtain of its net on the road, and whatsoever is caught therein, whether worm, or fly, or beetle, that does he catch and eat; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, spread the curtain of the net of self-possession over the six doors (of his six senses), and if any of the flies of evil are caught therein, there should he seize them.

– Известно, государь, что бродячий паук растягивает на дороге паутину и, если в эту паутину попадает козявка, мошка или бабочка, он их хватает и пожирает. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует растянуть в шести проходах паутину постановок памятования, и, если в ней запутываются мошки-аффекты, следует тут же их приканчивать.
