10.Rājā āha "bhante nāgasena, buddho atthī"ti?

King Milinda said: “Revered Nāgasena, is there the Buddha?"
|
Царь молвил: «Почтенный Нагасена, есть ли Просветленный?»

"Āma, mahārāja, bhagavā atthī"ti.
|
“Yes, sire, there is the Blessed One.”
|
– Да, государь, есть Блаженный.
|
|
|
"Sakkā pana, bhante nāgasena, buddho nidassetuṃ idhavā idhavā"ti?
|
“But is it possible, revered Nāgasena, to point to the Buddha and say that he is either here or there?"
|
– Но возможно ли показать Просветленного, почтенный Нагасена: вот там-то и там-то Просветленный?
|

|
"Parinibbuto, mahārāja, bhagavā anupādisesāya nibbānadhātuyā, na sakkā bhagavā nidassetuṃ 'idha vā idha vā"'ti.
|
“Sire, the Blessed One has attained final Nibbāna in the element of Nibbāna that has no substrate remaining for future birth. It is not possible to point to the Blessed One and say that he is either here or there.”
|
– Блаженный ушел в окончательный и безостаточный покой, государь, поэтому невозможно показать Блаженного: вот там-то, мол, и там-то Блаженный.

|
“Make a simile.”

"Taṃ kiṃ maññasi, mahārāja, mahato aggikkhandhassa jalamānassa yā acci atthaṅgatā, sakkā sā acci dassetuṃ 'idha vā idha vā"'ti?
|
“What do you think about this, sire? When the flame of a great mass of fire has gone out, is it possible to point to that flame and say that it is either here or there?"

– Как ты полагаешь, государь, возможно ли показать пламя большого, яркого костра: вот там-то, мол, и там-то это пламя – если оно уже потухло?
|

"Na hi, bhante, niruddhā sā acci appaññattiṃ gatā"ti.
|
“No, revered sir, that flame has ceased, it has vanished.”
|
– Нет, почтенный. Пламя угасло, его не показать.
|
|
|
"Evameva kho, mahārāja, bhagavā anupādisesāya nibbānadhātuyā parinibbuto atthaṅgato, na sakkā bhagavā nidassetuṃ 'idha vā idha vā' ti, dhammakāyena pana kho, mahārāja, sakkā bhagavā nidassetuṃ.
|
“Even so, sire, the Blessed One has attained final Nibbāna in the element of Nibbāna that has no substrate remaining for future birth. It is not possible to point to the Blessed One who has come to an end and say that he is either here or there." But, sire, it is possible to point to the Blessed One by means of the body of the Dhamma,

– Вот так же, государь, Блаженный ушел в окончательный безостаточный покой, поэтому невозможно показать его: вот там-то, мол, и там-то Блаженный. Но через тело дхармы260 возможно показать Блаженного,

for Dhamma, sire, was taught by the Blessed One.”60
