“But have you seen, sire, the river Uhā in the Himalayas?"

“No, revered sir.”

"Atha te pitarā ūhā nadī diṭṭhā"ti?

“Then has your father seen it?"

"Tena hi, mahārāja, natthi ūhā nadī"ti.

“Well then, sire, there is no river Uhā.”

"Atthi, bhante, kiñcāpi mayā ūhā nadī na diṭṭhā, pitarāpi me ūhā nadī na diṭṭhā, api ca atthi ūhā nadī"ti.

“There is, revered sir. Although neither my father nor I have seen the river Uhā, nevertheless there is the river Uhā.”

– Есть, почтенный. Хоть ни я не видел слияния всех рек, ни мои предки, но есть все же слияние всех рек.

"Evameva kho, mahārāja, kiñcāpi mayā bhagavā na diṭṭho, ācariyehipi me bhagavā na diṭṭho, api ca atthi bhagavā"ti.

“In the same way, sire, though neither my teachers nor I have seen the Blessed One, nevertheless there is the Blessed One.”
