Ime kho panāyyāyo, satta adhikaraṇasamathā

Dhammā uddesaṃ āgacchanti.
|

Uppannuppannānaṃ adhikaraṇānaṃ samathāya vūpasamāya sammukhāvinayo dātabbo.
|
For the settling, the resolution of issues that arise: 1. A face-to-face verdict should be given.
|
|
|
Sativinayo dātabbo.
|
2. A verdict of mindfulness may be given.
|
|
|
Amūḷhavinayo dātabbo.
|
3. A verdict of past insanity may be given.
|
|
|
Paṭiññāya kāretabbaṃ.
|
4. Acting in accordance with what is admitted.
|
|
|
Yebhuyyasikā.
|
5. Acting in accordance with the majority.
|
|
|
Tassapāpiyasikā.
|
6. Acting for her (the accused's) further punishment.
|
|
|
Tiṇavatthārakoti.
|
7. Covering over as with grass.
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā kho ayyāyo satta adhikaraṇasamathā dhammā.
|
Recited, venerables, are the seven matters of the settlement of issues.
|
|
|
Tatthāyyāyo pucchāmi, kaccittha parisuddhā, dutiyampi pucchāmi, kaccittha parisuddhā, tatiyampi pucchāmi, kaccittha parisuddhā, parisuddhetthāyyāyo, tasmā tuṇhī, evametaṃ dhārayāmīti.

Herein I ask the venerables: Are you pure in this? A second time I ask: Are you pure in this? A third time I ask: Are you pure in this? The venerables are pure in this; therefore they are silent. So I remember it.

Adhikaraṇasamathā niṭṭhitā.
|
The settlement of issues is finished.
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhaṃ kho ayyāyo nidānaṃ,
|
Recited, venerables, is the introduction,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā aṭṭha pārājikā dhammā,
|
recited are the eight matters entailing defeat,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā sattarasa saṅghādisesā dhammā,
|
recited are the seventeen matters entailing initial and subsequent [meetings] of the community,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā tiṃsa nissaggiyā pācittiyā dhammā,
|
recited are the thirty matters entailing confession with forfeiture,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā chasaṭṭhi satā pācittiyā dhammā,
|
recited are the one hundred and sixty-six matters entailing confession,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā aṭṭha pāṭidesanīyā dhammā,
|
recited are the eight matters to be acknowledged,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā sekhiyā dhammā,
|
recited are the rules for training,
|
|
|
Uddiṭṭhā satta adhikaraṇasamathā dhammā, ettakaṃ tassa bhagavato suttāgataṃ suttapariyāpannaṃ anvaddhamāsaṃ uddesaṃ āgacchati, tattha sabbāheva samaggāhi sammodamānāhi avivadamānāhi sikkhitabbanti.

recited are the seven matters for the settlement of issues. So much, come down in the sutta of the Blessed One, contained in the sutta, comes up for recitation every half month. Herein all are to train – united, in agreement, not disputing.
