Sāvatthiyaṃ viharati - pe - "pubbe me, bhikkhave, sambodhā anabhisambuddhassa bodhisattasseva sato etadahosi – 'kicchā vatāyaṃ loko āpanno jāyati ca jīyati ca mīyati ca cavati ca upapajjati ca.

At Savatthi. "Bhikkhus, before my enlightenment, while I was still a bodhisatta, not yet fully enlightened, it occurred to me: 'Alas, this world has fallen into trouble, in that it is born, ages, and dies, it passes away and is reborn,
|
В Саваттхи. "Монахи, до моего постижения, когда я был ещё не постигшим бодхисаттой, мне пришло на ум: "Увы, этот мир попал в беду, он рождается, стареет, умирает, уходит и возрождается.

Atha ca panimassa dukkhassa nissaraṇaṃ nappajānāti jarāmaraṇassa.
|
yet it does not understand the escape from this suffering [headed by] aging-and-death.
|
И всё же он не постигает способ избавления от этого страдания [возглавляемого] старостью и смертью.
|
|
|
Kudāssu nāma imassa dukkhassa nissaraṇaṃ paññāyissati jarāmaraṇassā'ti?
|
When now will an escape be discerned from this suffering [headed by] aging-and-death?'[175]
|
Когда же будет постигнут способ избавления от этого страдания [возглавляемого] старостью и смертью?"

Tassa mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, etadahosi – 'kimhi nu kho sati jarāmaraṇaṃ hoti, kiṃpaccayā jarāmaraṇa'nti ?
|
"Then, bhikkhus, it occurred to me: 'When what exists does aging-and-death come to be? By what is aging-and-death conditioned?'
|
Тогда мне пришло на ум: "Когда существует что есть старость и смерть, от чего в качестве условия есть старость и смерть?"
|

Tassa mayhaṃ, bhikkhave, yoniso manasikārā ahu paññāya abhisamayo – 'jātiyā kho sati jarāmaraṇaṃ hoti, jātipaccayā jarāmaraṇa"'nti.
|
Then, bhikkhus, through careful attention, there took place in me a breakthrough by wisdom: 'When there is birth, aging-and-death comes to be; aging-and-death has birth as its condition.'"
|
Тогда благодаря основательному вниманию произошло у меня открытие с помощью мудрости: "Когда существует рождение есть старость и смерть, от рождения в качестве условия есть старость и смерть."
