"Pañca kho ime, ānanda, upādānakkhandhā yattha bhikkhunā udayabbayānupassinā vihātabbaṃ – 'iti rūpaṃ iti rūpassa samudayo iti rūpassa atthaṅgamo, iti vedanā… iti saññā… iti saṅkhārā… iti viññāṇaṃ iti viññāṇassa samudayo iti viññāṇassa atthaṅgamo'ti. Tassa imesu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu udayabbayānupassino viharato yo pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu asmimāno so pahīyati. Evaṃ santametaṃ, ānanda, bhikkhu evaṃ pajānāti – 'yo kho imesu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu asmimāno so me pahīno'ti. Itiha tattha sampajāno hoti. Ime kho te, ānanda, dhammā ekantakusalā kusalāyātikā [dhammā ekantakusalāyatikā (sabbattha) aṭṭhakathāṭīkā oloketabbā] ariyā lokuttarā anavakkantā pāpimatā. Taṃ kiṃ maññasi, ānanda, kaṃ atthavasaṃ sampassamāno arahati sāvako satthāraṃ anubandhituṃ api paṇujjamāno"ti [api panujjamānopīti (ka. sī.), api payujjamānoti (syā. kaṃ. pī.)] ? "Bhagavaṃmūlakā no, bhante, dhammā bhagavaṃnettikā bhagavaṃpaṭisaraṇā. Sādhu vata, bhante, bhagavantaṃyeva paṭibhātu etassa bhāsitassa attho. Bhagavato sutvā bhikkhū dhāressantī"ti.

191."Pañca kho ime, ānanda, upādānakkhandhā yattha bhikkhunā udayabbayānupassinā vihātabbaṃ – 'iti rūpaṃ iti rūpassa samudayo iti rūpassa atthaṅgamo, iti vedanā… iti saññā… iti saṅkhārā… iti viññāṇaṃ iti viññāṇassa samudayo iti viññāṇassa atthaṅgamo'ti. 16. "Ananda, there are these five aggregates affected by clinging,1156 in regard to which a bhikkhu should abide contemplating rise and fall thus: 'Such is material form, such its arising, such its disappearance; such is feeling, such its arising, such its disappearance; such is perception, such its arising, such its disappearance; such are formations, such their arising, such their disappearance; such is consciousness, such its arising, such its disappearance.'
Tassa imesu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu udayabbayānupassino viharato yo pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu asmimāno so pahīyati. 17. "When he abides contemplating rise and fall in these five aggregates affected by clinging, the conceit 'I am' based on these five aggregates affected by clinging is abandoned in him.
Evaṃ santametaṃ, ānanda, bhikkhu evaṃ pajānāti – 'yo kho imesu pañcasu upādānakkhandhesu asmimāno so me pahīno'ti. When that is so, that bhikkhu understands: 'The conceit "I am" based on these five aggregates affected by clinging is abandoned in me.'

"What do you think, Ananda? What good does a disciple see that he should seek the Teacher's company even if he is told to go away?"
"Bhagavaṃmūlakā no, bhante, dhammā bhagavaṃnettikā bhagavaṃpaṭisaraṇā. "Venerable sir, our teachings are rooted in the Blessed One, guided by the Blessed One, have the Blessed One as their resort.
Sādhu vata, bhante, bhagavantaṃyeva paṭibhātu etassa bhāsitassa attho. It would be good if the Blessed One would explain the meaning of these words.
