"Yathā, mahārāja, puriso bahukaṭṭhapuñjena jalitakaṭṭhitena agginā dayhamāno vāyāmena tato muñcitvā niraggikokāsaṃ pavisitvā tattha paramasukhaṃ labheyya, evameva kho, mahārāja, yo sammāpaṭipanno, so yoniso manasikārena byapagatatividhaggisantāpaṃ paramasukhaṃ nibbānaṃ sacchikaroti.

As if, sire, a man were burning in a blazing scorching fire heaped with many faggots, but on getting free from there with effort and entering a place where there was no fire he would obtain the highest happiness there—even so, sire, does he who is practising rightly realize by means of proper attention the highest happiness, Nibbāna, the torture of the threefold fire departed.

‘Just, O king, as a man being burnt in a blazing fiery furnace heaped up with many faggots of dry sticks, when he has freed himself from it by a violent effort, and escaped into a cool place, would experience supreme bliss—just so whosoever orders his life aright, he by his careful thinking will realise the supreme bliss of Nirvāṇa, in which the burning heat of the threefold fire (of lust, malice, and delusion) has all gone out.

Представь, государь, что человек горел в жарком, палящем огне, в целой поленнице дров. Напрягшись, он вырвался оттуда, добрался до места, где нет огня, и счастлив тем безмерно. Вот точно так же, государь, истинно-делающий осуществляет своим подлинным вниманием нирвану, удаленную от жгучего пламени тройного огня.

Yathā, mahārāja, aggi, evaṃ tividhaggi daṭṭhabbo; yathā aggigato puriso, evaṃ sammāpaṭipanno daṭṭhabbo; yathā niraggikokāso, evaṃ nibbānaṃ daṭṭhabbaṃ.
|
As the fire, sire, so is the threefold fire to be understood. As the man in the fire, so is he who is practising rightly to be understood. As the place where there is no fire, so is Nibbāna to be understood.

As the furnace, O king, so should you regard this threefold fire, as the man fallen into the fire the man who is ordering his life aright, as the cool place Nirvāṇa.

Здесь, государь, огню следует уподоблять тройной огонь, человеку, попавшему в огонь, уподоблять истинно-делающего, месту, где нет огня, уподоблять нирвану.
