"Bhante nāgasena, 'mahāsamuddassa cattāro guṇā nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭhā'ti yaṃ vadesi, katame mahāsamuddassa cattāro guṇā nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭhā"ti?
|
|
‘Venerable Nāgasena, those four qualities of the ocean which you said were inherent in Nirvāṇa—which are they?’
|
– Почтенный Нагасена, ты говоришь, что у нирваны есть четыре общих свойства с океаном. Каковы четыре этих общих свойства у нирваны с океаном?
|
|
|
"Yathā, mahārāja, mahāsamuddo suñño sabbakuṇapehi, evameva kho, mahārāja, nibbānaṃ suññaṃ sabbakilesakuṇapehi.
|
“Four special qualities of the great ocean are present in Nibbāna: as the great ocean is empty of all corpses, so is Nibbāna empty of the corpses of all the defilements;
|
‘As the ocean, O king, is free from (empty of) corpses, so also is Nirvāṇa free from (empty of) the dead bodies of all evil dispositions.
|
– Как в океане, государь, не заводится падаль, так же точно, государь, в нирване не заводится падаль аффектов.
|
|
|
Ayaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddassa paṭhamo guṇo nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭho.
|
|
This, O king, is the first quality of the ocean inherent in Nirvāṇa.
|
Это первое свойство, государь, общее у нирваны с океаном.
|
|
|
Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddo mahanto anorapāro, na paripūrati sabbasavantīhi, evameva kho, mahārāja, nibbānaṃ mahantaṃ anorapāraṃ, na pūrati sabbasattehi.
|
and as the great ocean is great and unbounded and is not filled by all the rivers that flow into it, so is Nibbāna great and unbounded and is not filled by all the beings who attain it;
|
And again, O king, as the ocean is mighty and boundless, and fills not with all the rivers that flow in to it; so is Nirvāṇa mighty and boundless, and fills not with all beings (who enter in to it).
|
Затем, государь, как океан велик и безбрежен, все вместе потоки наполнить его не могут, так же точно, государь, нирвана велика и безбрежна, все вместе существа наполнить ее не могут.

Ayaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddassa dutiyo guṇo nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭho.
|
|
This is the second quality of the ocean inherent in Nirvāṇa.
|
Это второе свойство, государь, общее у нирваны с океаном.
|
|
|
Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddo mahantānaṃ bhūtānaṃ āvāso, evameva kho, mahārāja, nibbānaṃ mahantānaṃ arahantānaṃ vimalakhīṇāsavabalappattavasībhūtamahābhūtānaṃ āvāso.
|
and as the great ocean is the abode of great beings, so is Nibbāna the abode of arahats, great beings who are stainless, their cankers destroyed, who have attained the powers and become masters over their minds;
|
And again, O king, as the ocean is the abode of mighty creatures, so is Nirvāṇa the abode of great men—Arahats, in whom the Great Evils and all stains have been destroyed, endowed with power, masters of themselves.

Затем, государь, как океан есть обитель великих размеров существ, так же точно, государь, нирвана есть обитель великих святых – непятнаемых, сбросивших путы, обретших силу, ставших господами себя великих существ.

Ayaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddassa tatiyo guṇo nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭho.
|
|
This is the third quality of the ocean inherent in Nirvāṇa.
|
Это третье свойство, государь, общее у нирваны с океаном.
|
|
|
Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddo aparimitavividhavipulavīcipupphasaṃkusumito, evameva kho, mahārāja, nibbānaṃ aparimitavividhavipulaparisuddhavijjāvimuttipupphasaṃkusumitaṃ.
|
and as the great ocean is flowering with the unnumbered, various and abundant flowers of the waves, so is Nibbāna flowering with the unnumbered, various, abundant and quite pure flowers of knowledge and emancipation.
|
And again, O king, as the ocean is all in blossom, as it were, with the innumerable and various and fine flowers of the ripple of its waves, so is Nirvāṇa all in blossom, as it were, with the innumerable and various and fine flowers of purity, of knowledge, and of emancipation.
|
Затем, государь, как океан весь расцвечен цветами бесконечно разнообразного множества волн, так же точно, государь, нирвана вся расцвечена множеством бесконечно разнообразных цветов ведения и свободы.

Ayaṃ, mahārāja, mahāsamuddassa catuttho guṇo nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭho.
|
|
This is the fourth quality of the ocean inherent in Nirvāṇa.’
|
Это четвертое свойство, государь, общее у нирваны с океаном.
|
|
|
Ime kho, mahārāja, mahāsamuddassa cattāro guṇā nibbānaṃ anupaviṭṭhā"ti.
|
|
|
Таковы, государь, четыре общих свойства у нирваны и океана.
