"Atha rājā gaṅgāya āvaṭṭaūmivegajanitaṃ halāhalasaddaṃ sutvā vimhito acchariyabbhutajāto amacce evamāha 'kissāyaṃ, bhaṇe, mahāgaṅgā paṭisotaṃ sandatī'ti?

‘Then when the king heard the din and the noise of the movement of the waves of the whirlpools of the mighty Ganges, amazed, and struck with awe and wonder, he said to his officers: “How is this, that the great Ganges is flowing backwards?”

А царь заслышал гул водоворотов, порожденных напором волн на великой Ганге, и, изумленный, пораженный, потрясенный, спросил советников: «Отчего это, любезные, великая Ганга вспять потекла?»

'Bandhumatī, mahārāja, gaṇikā tava vacanaṃ sutvā saccakiriyaṃ akāsi, tassā saccakiriyāya mahāgaṅgā uddhaṃmukhā sandatī'ti.

‘And they told him what had happened.
