152.Tena kho pana samayena sunidhavassakārā [sunīdhavassakārā (syā. ka.)] magadhamahāmattā pāṭaligāme nagaraṃ māpenti vajjīnaṃ paṭibāhāya.

26. At that time Sunidha and Vassakara, the chief ministers of Magadha, were building a fortress at Pataligama in defense against the Vajjis.
|
Now on that occasion, Sunidha & Vassakāra, the chief ministers of Magadha, were building a city at Pāṭali Village to preempt the Vajjians.
|
1.26.Now at this time Sunidha and Vassakara, the Maga- dhan ministers, were building a fortress in Pataligama as a defence against the Vajjians.
|
В то же время Сунидха и Вассакара, министры Магадхи, строили город в деревне Патали, чтобы помешать ваджджиянам.
|

Tena samayena sambahulā devatāyo sahasseva [sahassasseva (sī. pī. ka.), sahassaseva (ṭīkāyaṃ pāṭhantaraṃ), sahassasahasseva (udānaṭṭhakathā)] pāṭaligāme vatthūni pariggaṇhanti.
|
And deities in large numbers, counted in thousands, had taken possession of sites at Pataligama.
|
And on that occasion many devas by the thousands were occupying sites in Pāṭali Village.
|
And at that time a multitude of thousands of devas were taking up lodging in Pataligama.
|
И множество божеств, насчитывавшихся тысячами, заняли места в деревне Патали.
|
И в это самое время многочисленные божества тысячами завладели землями в Паталигаме.
|

Yasmiṃ padese mahesakkhā devatā vatthūni pariggaṇhanti, mahesakkhānaṃ tattha raññaṃ rājamahāmattānaṃ cittāni namanti nivesanāni māpetuṃ.
|
In the region where deities of great power prevailed, officials of great power were bent on constructing edifices;
|
In the area where devas of great influence occupied sites, there the minds of the king’s royal ministers of great influence were inclined to build their homes.
|
And in the parts where powerful devas settled, they caused the minds of the most powerful royal officials to pick those sites for their dwellings,

В той местности, где заняли места сильные божества, умы могущественных правителей и министров стали склоняться к строительству жилищ [в этих местах].

В тех местах, где землями завладели божества великой силы, они склонили сердца царей великой силы и главных царских советников воздвигать жилища.

Addasā kho bhagavā dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena tā devatāyo sahasseva pāṭaligāme vatthūni pariggaṇhantiyo.

27. And the Blessed One saw with the heavenly eye, pure and transcending the faculty of men, the deities, counted in thousands, where they had taken possession of sites in Pataligama.
|
The Blessed One, with the divine eye—purified and surpassing the human—saw those devas by the thousands occupying sites in Pāṭali Village.
|
1.27.And the Lord, with his divine eye surpassing that of humans, saw the thousands of devas taking up residence in Pataligama.
|
Благословенный своим божественным оком, очищенным, превосходящим человеческое, увидел тысячи тех божеств, занявших места в деревне Патали.
|
1.27. И очищенным божественным зрением, выходящим за пределы человеческого, Благостный увидел, что эти божества тысячами завладели землями в Паталигаме.

Atha kho bhagavā rattiyā paccūsasamayaṃ paccuṭṭhāya āyasmantaṃ ānandaṃ āmantesi – "ke nu kho [ko nu kho (sī. syā. pī. ka.)], ānanda, pāṭaligāme nagaraṃ māpentī"ti [māpetīti (sī. syā. pī. ka.)] ?
|
And rising before the night was spent, towards dawn, the Blessed One addressed the Venerable Ananda thus: "Who is it, Ananda, that is erecting a city at Pataligama?"
|
Then, getting up in the last watch of the night, the Blessed One addressed Ven. Ānanda, “Ānanda, who is building a city at Pāṭali Village? ”
|
And, getting up at break of day, he said to the Venerable Ananda: 'Ananda, who is building a fortress at Pataligama?
|
И вот, встав рано утром на рассвете, Благословенный обратился к почтенному Ананде: "Кто строит город в деревне Патали, Ананда?"
|
И вот Благостный, поднявшись на заре, обратился к достопочтенному Ананде: «Кто это, Ананда, воздвигает в Паталигаме городские [укрепления]?»

"Sunidhavassakārā, bhante, magadhamahāmattā pāṭaligāme nagaraṃ māpenti vajjīnaṃ paṭibāhāyā"ti.
|
"Sunidha and Vassakara, Lord, the chief ministers of Magadha, are building a fortress at Pataligama, in defence against the Vajjis."

"Seyyathāpi, ānanda, devehi tāvatiṃsehi saddhiṃ mantetvā, evameva kho, ānanda, sunidhavassakārā magadhamahāmattā pāṭaligāme nagaraṃ māpenti vajjīnaṃ paṭibāhāya.

28. "It is, Ananda, as if Sunidha and Vassakara had taken counsel with the gods of the Thirty-three.
|
“Ānanda, it’s as if they had consulted the Devas of the Thirty-three: That’s how Sunidha & Vassakāra, the chief ministers of Magadha, are building a city at Pāṭali Village to preempt the Vajjians.
|
1.28.'Ananda, just as if they had taken counsel with the Thirty-Three Gods, Sunidha and Vassakara are building a fortress at Pataligama.
|
"О Ананда, Сунидха и Вассакара, министры Магадхи, строят город в деревне Патали, чтобы помешать ваджджиянам как будто они советуются с божествами мира Тридцати Трёх.
|
1.28. «Право же, Ананда, Сунидха и Вассакара, главные советники Магадхи, воздвигают в Паталигаме городские [укрепления] для отражения ваджджийцев, словно посоветовавшись с тридцатью тремя богами.

Idhāhaṃ, ānanda, addasaṃ dibbena cakkhunā visuddhena atikkantamānusakena sambahulā devatāyo sahasseva pāṭaligāme vatthūni pariggaṇhantiyo.
|
For I beheld, Ananda, with the heavenly eye, pure and transcending the faculty of men, a large number of deities, counted in thousands, that have taken possession of sites at Pataligama.
|
“Just now, Ānanda—with the divine eye—purified and surpassing the human—I saw many devas by the thousands occupying sites in Pāṭali Village.
|
I have seen with my divine eye how thousands of devas were taking up lodging there... (as verse 26).
|
Как я вижу, Ананда, божественным оком, очищенным, превосходящим человеческое, – множество божеств, насчитывавшихся тысячами, заняли места в деревне Патали.

Yāvatā, ānanda, ariyaṃ āyatanaṃ yāvatā vaṇippatho idaṃ agganagaraṃ bhavissati pāṭaliputtaṃ puṭabhedanaṃ.
|
Truly, Ananda, as far as the Aryan race extends and trade routes spread, this will be the foremost city Pataliputta, a trade-center.
|
“Ānanda, as far as the sphere of the Ariyans extends, as far as merchants’ roads extend, this will be the supreme city: Pāṭaliputta,15 where the seedpods of the Pāṭali plant break open.
|
Ananda, as far as the Ariyan realm extends, as far as its trade extends, this will be the chief city, Pataliputta, scattering its seeds far and [88] wide.
|
На всю область распространения арьев, о Ананда, насколько распространятся торговые пути - это будет главный город Паталипутта, он будет местом вскрытия коробок [с товарами].

Pāṭaliputtassa kho, ānanda, tayo antarāyā bhavissanti – aggito vā udakato vā mithubhedā vā"ti.
|
But Pataliputta, Ananda, will be assailed by three perils — fire, water, and dissension."
|
There will be three dangers for Pāṭaliputta: from fire, from water, or from the breaking of alliances. ”
|
And Pataliputta will face three perils: from fire, from water and from internal dissension.'
|
Но, Ананда, три опасности будут тяготеть над Паталипуттой: опасность огня, опасность воды и опасность раздоров".
|
[Но] перед Паталипуттой, Ананда, будут три опасности: от огня, от воды и от раздора».
