214."Yasmiṃ kho, subhadda, dhammavinaye ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo na upalabbhati, samaṇopi tattha na upalabbhati.

But in whatsoever Dhamma and Discipline there is found the Noble Eightfold Path, there is found a true ascetic of the first, second, third, and fourth degrees of saintliness.
|
But in any doctrine & discipline where the noble eightfold path is ascertained, contemplatives of the first… second… third… fourth order are ascertained.
|
But such ascetics can be found, of the first, second, third and fourth grade in a Dhamma and discipline where the Noble Eightfold Path is found.
|
Но в любой той доктрине и дисциплине, где присутствует благородный восьмеричный путь, присутствует отшельник [первого вида], присутствует отшельник второго вида, присутствует отшельник третьего вида, присутствует отшельник четвёртого вида.
|
Когда же, Субхадда в [учении об] истине и должном поведении есть праведный восьмичленный путь, то есть там и [истинный] отшельник, и есть там отшельник второй, и есть там отшельник третьей, и есть там отшельник четвертой [ступени].

Imasmiṃ kho, subhadda, dhammavinaye ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo upalabbhati, idheva, subhadda, samaṇo, idha dutiyo samaṇo, idha tatiyo samaṇo, idha catuttho samaṇo, suññā parappavādā samaṇebhi aññehi [aññe (pī.)].
|
Now in this Dhamma and Discipline, Subhadda, is found the Noble Eightfold Path; and in it alone are also found true ascetics of the first, second, third, and fourth degrees of saintliness. Devoid of true ascetics are the systems of other teachers.
|
The noble eightfold path is ascertained in this doctrine & discipline, and right here there are contemplatives of the first… second… third… fourth order. Other teachings are empty of knowledgeable contemplatives.
|
Now, Subhadda, in this Dhamma and discipline the Noble Eightfold Path is found, and in it are to be found ascetics of the first, second, third and fourth grade. Those other schools are devoid of [true] ascetics;

О Субхадда, в этой доктрине и дисциплине присутствует благородный восьмеричный путь, здесь есть отшельник [первого вида], здесь есть отшельник второго вида, здесь есть отшельник третьего вида, здесь есть отшельник четвёртого вида. В других учениях [настоящих] отшельников нет.
|
В этом же, Субхадда [моем учении об] истине и должном поведении есть праведный восьмичленный путь, и есть здесь, Субхадда, [истинный] отшельник, и отшельник второй, и отшельник третьей, и отшельник четвертой [ступени]. Прочие ложные учения лишены [истинных] отшельников —

Ime ca [idheva (ka.)], subhadda, bhikkhū sammā vihareyyuṃ, asuñño loko arahantehi assāti.
|
But if, Subhadda, the bhikkhus live righteously, the world will not be destitute of arahats.
|
And if the monks dwell rightly, this world will not be empty of arahants.
|
but if in this one the monks were to live the life to perfection, the world would not lack for Arahants.
|
Но если, Субхадда, монахи будут жить надлежащим образом, мир не останется без арахантов.
|
пусть же, Субхадда, монахи надлежащим образом следуют этому [моему учению], и мир не будет лишен архатов.
