5."Bhante nāgasena, 'rukkhassa tīṇi aṅgāni gahetabbānī'ti yaṃ vadesi, katamāni tāni tīṇi aṅgāni gahetabbānī"ti? | “Revered Nāgasena, when you say three qualities of the tree must be adopted, which are these three qualities that must be adopted? | ‘Venerable Nāgasena, those three qualities of the tree you say he ought to take, which are they?’ | 55. Почтенный Нагасена, ты сказал, что следует взять три качества дерева. Каковы эти три качества?
"Yathā, mahārāja, rukkho nāma pupphaphaladharo, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena vimuttipupphasāmaññaphaladhārinā bhavitabbaṃ. | “As, sire, the tree bears flowers and fruits, even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must be one who bears the flowers of emancipation and the fruits of recluseship. | ‘Just, O king, as the tree bears fruits and flowers; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, bear the flowers of emancipation and the fruits of Samaṇaship. | – Во-первых, государь, дерево имеет цветы и плоды. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу следует обрести цветы свободы и плоды шраманства.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, rukkhassa paṭhamaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. | This, sire, is the first quality of the tree that must be adopted. | This, O king, is the first quality of the tree he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, rukkho upagatānamanuppaviṭṭhānaṃ janānaṃ chāyaṃ deti, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena upagatānamanuppaviṭṭhānaṃ puggalānaṃ āmisappaṭisandhārena vā dhammappaṭisanthārena vā paṭisantharitabbaṃ. | “And again, sire, the tree gives shade to people who come up to it and approach it; even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must receive courteously the favour of worldly things or the favour of Dhamma from men who come up to him and approach him. | ‘And again, O king, as the tree casts its shadow over the men who come to it, and stay beneath it; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, receive with kindness, both as regards their bodily wants and their religious necessities, those that wait upon him, and remain near by him. | Далее, государь, тем, кто подходит к дереву, приближается к нему, оно дарует тень. Вот точно так же, государь, если к занимающемуся йогой йогу приходят люди, ему следует гостеприимно позаботиться об их вещественных нуждах и об их нужде в Учении.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, rukkhassa dutiyaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. | This, sire, is the second quality of the tree that must be adopted. | This, O king, is the second quality of the tree he ought to have.
"Puna caparaṃ, mahārāja, rukkho chāyāvemattaṃ na karoti, evameva kho, mahārāja, yoginā yogāvacarena sabbasattesu vemattatā na kātabbā, coravadhakapaccatthikesupi attanipi samasamā mettābhāvanā kātabbā, 'kinti ime sattā averā abyāpajjā [abyāpajjhā (sī.)] anīghā sukhī attānaṃ parihareyyu'nti. | “And again, sire, the tree makes no distinction in the shade (it affords); even so, sire, the one who is devoted to mental training must make no distinction among any beings, but must conduct the meditation on loving kindness quite equally for thieves, murderers and enemies and for himself, thinking: ‘How may these beings maintain themselves without enmity, without harming, peaceable, secure and happy?’ | ‘And again, O king, just as the tree makes no kind of distinction in the shadow it affords; just so, O king, should the strenuous Bhikshu, earnest in effort, make no distinctions between all men, but nourish an equal love to those who rob, or hurt, or bear enmity to him, and to those who are like unto himself. | Далее, государь, дерево не различает, на что оно бросает свою тень. Вот точно так же, государь, и занимающемуся йогой йогу не следует делать различий между живыми существами, следует и на воров, убийц и своих ненавистников и на себя самого равно распространять доброту, думая: «Пусть существа друг с другом не враждуют, друг другу не вредят, не злобятся и счастливо заботятся о себе»896.
Idaṃ, mahārāja, rukkhassa tatiyaṃ aṅgaṃ gahetabbaṃ. | This, sire, is the third quality of the tree that must be adopted.” | This, O king, is the third quality of the tree he ought to have.
Bhāsitampetaṃ, mahārāja, therena sāriputtena dhammasenāpatinā – | For it was said, O king, by Sāriputta, the Elder, the Commander of the Faith: | Ведь есть, государь, изречение тхеры Шарипутры, полководца Учения:
"'Vadhake devadattamhi, core aṅgulimālake; | “Devadatta, who tried to murder him; Aṅgulimāla, highway robber chief; | «С Девадаттой, едва не убийцей, С Пальцеломом, лютым разбойником,
Dhanapāle rāhule ca, sabbattha samako munī"'ti. | The elephant set loose to take his life; And Rāhula, the good, his only son— The sage is equal-minded to them all.” ’ | Со свирепым слоном Дханапалой И с Рахулой, собственным сыном,– Со всеми Мудрец одинаков». |
