4.Evaṃ me sutaṃ – ekaṃ samayaṃ bhagavā uruvelāyaṃ viharati najjā nerañjarāya tīre ajapālanigrodhe paṭhamābhisambuddho.

Thanissaro bhikkhu |
I have heard that on one occasion, the Blessed One was staying at Uruvelā on the bank of the Nerañjarā River at the root of the Bodhi tree–the tree of awakening–newly awakened. |

Why Bodhi tree? The pali says ajapālanigrodhe.
It is also strange why this too is not regarded as a first sermon.

Bhikkhu Ānandajoti: "... at the root of the Goatherds’ Banyan tree, in the first period after attaining Awakening." — It may be consider the first sermon. But it isn't the first sermon that set the dhamma wheel in motion: the first teaching of the Dhamma from the Buddha causing the student's dhamma eye to open, and so forth.

There is also a short teaching to Upaka in MN 26, again prior to the first sermon.

According to Ajapālakathā from Mahāvagga the encounter with this brahman occured before Upaka's which occured after Brahma Sahampati requested him to teach the dhamma. Also it's clearly a translation error because he moved from bodhi tree to banyan tree.
