Tena kho pana samayena bhikkhuniyo purisatitthe nahāyanti.

Now at that time nuns bathed at a ford for men.

Manussā ujjhāyanti khiyyanti vipācenti - pe - seyyathāpi gihinī kāmabhoginiyoti.

People … spread it about, saying, “Like women householders who enjoy pleasures of the senses.”

Bhagavato etamatthaṃ ārocesuṃ.

They told this matter to the Lord.

"Na, bhikkhave, bhikkhuniyā purisatitthe nahāyitabbaṃ.
|
He said: “Monks, nuns should not bathe at a ford for men.
|
|
|
Yā nahāyeyya, āpatti dukkaṭassa.
|
Whoever should (so) bathe, there is an offence of wrong-doing.
|
|
|
Anujānāmi, bhikkhave, mahilātitthe nahāyitu"nti.
|
I allow them monks, to bathe at a ford for women.”
