226.Atha kho āyasmā anuruddho āyasmantaṃ ānandaṃ āmantesi – "gacchāvuso ānanda, kusināraṃ pavisitvā kosinārakānaṃ mallānaṃ ārocehi – 'parinibbuto, vāseṭṭhā, bhagavā, yassadāni kālaṃ maññathā"'ti.
|
Then the Venerable Anuruddha spoke to the Venerable Ananda, saying: "Go now, friend Ananda, to Kusinara, and announce to the Mallas: 'The Blessed One, Vasetthas, has passed away. Do now as seems fitting to you.'"
|
Then Ven. Anuruddha said to Ven. Ānanda, “Go, friend Ānanda. Entering Kusinārā, announce to the Kusinārā Mallans, ‘The Blessed One, Vāsiṭṭhas, has totally unbound. Now is the time for you to do as you see fit. ’”
|
And the Venerable Anuruddha said: 'Now go, friend Ananda, to Kusinara and announce to the Mallas: "Vasetthas, the Lord has passed away. Now is the time to do as you think fit."

И тогда почтенный Ануруддха обратился к почтенному Ананде: "Ступай, друг Ананда, войди в Кусинару и извести кусинарских маллов, объяви им: "О васеттхи! Благословенный достиг окончательной ниббаны, делайте что сочтёте необходимым."

И тогда достопочтенный Ануруддха обратился к достопочтенному Ананде: «Иди, друг Ананда, войди в Кусинару и передай кусинарийским маллам: „Васеттхи, Благостный достиг ниббаны! [Делайте] теперь то, что считаете нужным“».

"Evaṃ, bhante"ti kho āyasmā ānando āyasmato anuruddhassa paṭissutvā pubbaṇhasamayaṃ nivāsetvā pattacīvaramādāya attadutiyo kusināraṃ pāvisi.
|
"So be it, venerable sir." And the Venerable Ananda prepared himself in the forenoon, and taking bowl and robe, went with a companion into Kusinara.
|
Responding, “As you say, sir,” to Ven. Anuruddha, Ven. Ānanda in the early morning adjusted his lower robe and—taking his bowl & outer robe—went unaccompanied into Kusinārā.
|
"Yes, Lord", said Ananda, and having dressed in the morning and taken his robe and bowl, he went with a companion to Kusinara.
|
"Да будет так, досточтимый", – отвечал почтенный Ананда почтенному Ануруддхе. Рано утром почтенный Ананда оделся, взял сосуд для подаяния и одеяние и вместе с сопровождающим пошёл в Кусинару.

«Хорошо, господин», — согласился с достопочтенным Ануруддхой достопочтенный Ананда, оделся утром, взял сосуд для подаяний и верхнюю одежду и вместе с другим [монахом] вошел в Кусинару.

Tena kho pana samayena kosinārakā mallā sandhāgāre sannipatitā honti teneva karaṇīyena.
|
20. At that time the Mallas of Kusinara had gathered in the council hall to consider that very matter.
|
Now at that time the Kusinārā Mallans had met for some business in their reception hall.
|
[159] At that time the Mallas of Kusinara were assembled in their meeting-hall on some business.

В то время кусинарские маллы находились в зале для собраний по этому самому делу.
|
И в это самое время кусинарийские маллы собрались по некоторому делу в месте собраний.

Atha kho āyasmā ānando yena kosinārakānaṃ mallānaṃ sandhāgāraṃ tenupasaṅkami; upasaṅkamitvā kosinārakānaṃ mallānaṃ ārocesi – 'parinibbuto, vāseṭṭhā, bhagavā, yassadāni kālaṃ maññathā'ti.
|
And the Venerable Ananda approached them and announced: "The Blessed One, Vasetthas, has passed away. Do now as seems fitting to you."
|
Ven. Ānanda went to the reception hall and on arrival announced to them, “The Blessed One, Vāsiṭṭhas, has totally unbound. Now is the time for you to do as you see fit. ”
|
And the Venerable Ananda came to them and delivered the Venerable Anuruddha's message.

Тогда почтенный Ананда пошёл в зал для собраний кусинарских маллов. Придя, он объявил кусинарским маллам: "О васеттхи! Благословенный достиг окончательной ниббаны, делайте что сочтёте необходимым."

И вот достопочтенный Ананда приблизился к месту собраний кусинарийских маллов и, приблизившись, передал кусинарийским маллам: «Васеттхи, Благостный достиг ниббаны! [Делайте] теперь то, что считаете нужным».

Idamāyasmato ānandassa vacanaṃ sutvā mallā ca mallaputtā ca mallasuṇisā ca mallapajāpatiyo ca aghāvino dummanā cetodukkhasamappitā appekacce kese pakiriya kandanti, bāhā paggayha kandanti, chinnapātaṃ papatanti, āvaṭṭanti, vivaṭṭanti – "atikhippaṃ bhagavā parinibbuto, atikhippaṃ sugato parinibbuto, atikhippaṃ cakkhuṃ loke antarahito"ti.
|
And when they heard the Venerable Ananda speak these words, the Mallas with their sons, their wives, and the wives of their sons, were sorely grieved, grieved at heart and afflicted; and some, with their hair all dishevelled, with arms upraised in despair, wept; flinging themselves on the ground, they rolled from side to side, lamenting: "Too soon has the Blessed One come to his Parinibbana! "Too soon has the Happy One come to his Parinibbana! Too soon has the Eye of the World vanished from sight!"

When they heard Ven. Ānanda, the Mallans together with their sons, daughters, & wives were shocked, saddened, their minds overflowing with sorrow. Some of them wept, tearing at their hair; they wept, uplifting their arms. As if their feet were cut out from under them, they fell down and rolled back & forth, crying, ”All too soon has the Blessed One totally unbound! All too soon has the One Well-Gone totally unbound! All too soon has the One with Eyes disappeared from the world!”

And when they heard the Venerable Ananda's words, the Mallas. . .were struck with anguish and sorrow, their minds were overcome with grief so that they were all tearing their hair...

Услышав речь почтенного Ананды маллы, их сыновья, невестки и жёны расстроились, опечалились, их сердца переполнились печалью. Некоторые с растрёпанными волосами рыдали, заламывая руки рыдали, падали как подкошенные, крутились из стороны в сторону: "Слишком скоро Благословенный достиг окончательной ниббаны, слишком скоро Достигший блага достиг окончательной ниббаны, слишком скоро Провидец исчез в мире".

И услышав это от достопочтенного Ананды, маллы и дети маллов, и невестки маллов, и жены маллов стали грустить, горевать, ощутили печаль в сердце, а некоторые заплакали, распустив волосы, заплакали, воздев руки, упали ниц пораженные, заметались взад и вперед, [возглашая]: «Слишком рано достиг ниббаны Благостный, слишком рано достиг ниббаны Счастливый, слишком рано угасло око мира!»
